Howdy friends!  Today I wanted to share with you how I use QR Codes in my classroom to help remind my students to respond to their reading.  They have been a simple way to help my students remember to respond before, during, and after reading.

I know, I know...QR Codes are nothing new and they have been around for awhile!  I hope you stick around with me though because I want to show you how you can use QR codes for more than just listening to books in the Listening Center.

Here is a sample of the Reading Response Sheets that I use.  You can click on the pictures to grab the freebie and try them out for yourself.  They will only be free till March 31st, and then I'll have the full product version posted.

I laminated the reading response sheets and put them in my Library Center.  After my students read a book, they select either a fiction or non-fiction sheet to match their book and then they scan and respond to the voice prompt in their reading journal.  It really gives my students an authentic way to respond after reading to text.  Anything to keep them writing and responding....right?!?!

I'm also trying to teach my students that readers write and answer questions while they are reading.  I cut out the QR Codes and tape them inside certain books, so that my students will stop and respond during reading.  They LOVE finding the QR Codes, it's like a hunt.  I also like to tape the QR Codes to the back of the book, so they remember to respond after they finish a book.

The Reading Response QR Codes include main idea, summary writing, author's purpose, most important detail, and MANY more.  Make sure you grab the freebie and try it out in your class!  Let me know how it goes.

I'm super excited to be participating in the March Blogger Match-Up that was set up by The Creative Classroom.  I'm not much of a college basketball fan but I'm super competitive (who isn't?!?!) and I couldn't resist signing up.

I'm totally cheering on the underdogs ... But it's all good fun right?!?!

Now, it's your turn to win!  You can win one of two great prizes...

You can win my Reading Response Flap Journals or a $10 credit to my TpT store!

Make sure you cheer on your favorite bloggers and the teams that they are cheering for!!

Hi y'all!  Are you staying warm today?  It's not super cold here in Houston, but it's in the low 30s and that is pretty cold to me!

Today I'm super excited because I'm sharing some technology tips on The Elementary Entourage blog.  Here is a quick sneak peek of what tips I'm sharing.

Happy March 3rd y'all!  I'm linking up with the wonderful ladies from PAWSitively Teaching and Inspired Owl's Corner for their monthly Pick 3 Pinterest Linky.  I've had so much fun picking out my top 3 pins and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.  Here we go...

I absolutely LOVE this pin from Sturdy for Common Things.  Since March is known for March Madness, how fun would it be to have a tournament of books that the kids vote on.  I know that would encourage so many kids to read more and to enjoy reading!

I'm always looking for fun crafts or hands on centers that help support my instruction.  This month my second graders will be learning about coins, adding groups of coins, and exchanging coins.  I think this would be a great center for practicing those concepts.  Plus it ties in with St. Patrick's Day!

And of course, no March Pinterest Linky would be complete with out sharing a pin related to Dr. Seuss.  I love March because we get to celebrate his wonderful reading legacy that he left behind.  I love this pin from Fun in First.  I love discussing college and their future with my students.  This will be a great way to have them write about where they want to go once they graduate high school.

Where did February go?!?!  Did it fly by for anyone else?  Well....since it's the first second of the month, its time to link up with Farley for her March Currently.

Listening - I'm home with my littlest man, Maddox, today.  We both have a nasty stomach bug!  My husband had it on Saturday.  So far it's (Stomach Bug - 3 and Chambers Family - 1).  I'm hoping those numbers stay the same and Mason doesn't get the same bug.

Loving - Spring Break is just 2 weeks away!!  YAY!!

Thinking - This morning I was looking at all of the wonderful teachers that I follow on Instagram post their super fun Seuss pictures.  I'm sad that I'm missing this very special day!

Wanting - I hate when either one of my boys are sick!  I just want to take it away from them!  Although, I do have to say that both of my boys have energy even when they are sick!  Maddox was climbing things this morning and then a few minutes later he was laying on the floor because his tummy hurts.  Silly boy!

Needing - My new addiction is Sweet Leaf Raspberry Tea.  I had it a few weeks ago when I was in Austin for the TCEA conference and now I'm addicted.  HEB was sold out though :(.

Spring Break Plans - My husband always works on Spring Break, so I always try to make fun plans with my two little boys.  This year I know a trip to the zoo and the train will be on our plans.  Oh yeah, I forgot I have Jury Duty on the Monday of Spring Break :(.  I so hope that I don't get picked because Jury Duty on the week of Spring Break was not in my plans!!!

Thanks for reading my March Currently!  What are you up to currently?
